Weekly Filet #72: Vimeo Awards. And more.

Published on June 15, 2012

This week’s top recommendation

The rule is simple: On YouTube, you find any video. On Vimeo, you find the good ones. The Vimeo awards showcase some wonderful short films in thirteen different categories. All of them are worth your eyeballs, but if you have but little time, watch the winners of the categories Lyrical and Action Sports. And if you have a lot of time – there are also four non-winning finalists for every category right there to watch.

  • All Men Can’t Jump (Slate)
  • A fascinating read on a fact that was new to me: In long-distance running, humans are second to no other species in the world.

  • Terms of Service; Didn’t Read
  • This promising (and important!) project aims at making terms of service understandable by classifying them and pointing out shady parts.

  • 10 Timesframes (Contents Magazine)
  • Time is how you frame it. An exceptional keynote speech on decades, nanoseconds and heartbeats. Worth a few hundred heartbeats of reading time.

  • Simple Diary
  • A diary for hasty times. For each day, there’s a (changing) short questionnaire to fill in. Like: «Your day was: a) making a point, b) sketchy, c) drawing a line.»
