Caste — The Origins of Our Discontents

It’s one of the most highly appraised new books, and when a friend of mine, whose book recommendations are always spot on, told me to read it, I read it. No regrets whatsoever. Isabel Wilkerson tells the story of violence, oppression and discrimination against Black people in the US. What’s so fascinating about this work of non-fiction: By applying the lens of caste — usually associated with the Indian caste system — Wilkerson adds a whole new level of clarity to a well-known part of history.
