I can’t breathe, again

Sadly, maddeningly, «I can’t breathe» is in the news again. The death of George Floyd, killed by a police officer in Minnesota, puts yet another spotlight on systemic racism and police brutality. It instantly made me think of two books that have helped me wrap my head around this sort of violence: Ta-Nehisi Coates’ letter to his son «Between the World and Me», and the chapter on Eric Garner in Carolin Emcke’s «Gegen den Hass» / «Against Hate» (she posted an excerpt of it herself in response to Floyd’s death). I can’t recommend them highly enough.
