A common talking point about climate change gets it all wrong

Given my job and the project I’m currently working on, I think a lot about how to communicate climate change. A new meta-study now challenges one of the assumptions that a lot of climate communication is based on: There’s little evidence that the average person only cares about climate change when you show them that it already affects them directly. In fact, working from that assumption can backfire.
